What is Laminate Flooring? Laminate flooring is a multi-layer synthetic flooring product to simulate wood, tiles and stone. A photograph is bonded under a clear protective layer and mounted to a resin or fibreboard base. |

What is Hardwood Flooring? Wood flooring is made from a single plank of timber and can be used either structurally or aesthetically. Wood is a common choice for flooring due to its environmental profile, durability and restorability. Bamboo flooring is often considered a form of wood flooring, although it is made from grass. |

What is Engineered Flooring? Engineered flooring is real timber bonded into layers to form a plank. The layers runs in several different directions to give greater stability than solid wood – ideal for damp or hot environments. |

Can you give me a price for installation over the phone? Unfortunately we can’t. There are lots of things we need to consider to give an accurate price other than the amount of flooring you need. We are happy to visit you to talk you through the elements of supply and/or fitting with you. |

Why do I need a moisture test? A moisture test is extremely important because the results will determine what kind of flooring you can install and how to fit it. The test costs nothing but will ensure your floor is fitted correctly and will give you years of satisfaction. |

Do I need to remove the furniture before you start fitting? We always ask that a room is completely empty before we start fitting and that the carpets and underlay are removed along with any gripper rods and staples. It means we can concentrate on the fitting from the moment we arrive. |

My house is brand new, will there be a moisture problem? A new house is often worse than an old one for moisture because it hasn’t had time to dry out. The drying can sometimes take years, especially if you have a concrete sub-floor. We recommend you have a moisture test done before you buy or install any flooring. |

Can solid timber be fitted to concrete? Yes. But to fit it properly we need to ensure that the moisture in the concrete is kept at bay with a chemical DPM. The flooring is then bonded using an appropriate flooring adhesive. |

Can I have a wooden floor if I have under-floor heating? Yes. But you will need to have an engineered board – they are a lot more stable than solid timber flooring and are designed to cope with excessive moisture and heat. They can also be used in conservatories. |

Can I install laminate flooring in my bathroom? Unfortunately, most laminate floors are not water proof. Some are water resistant but you will need to check with the manufacturer first. There is a product available called Aqua-step which is water-proof. You can find Aqua-step here. |

What is the difference between a floating floor and a fixed floor?
A floating floor, as its name suggest, floats on top of the sub-floor, ie, laminate and some click engineered flooring. A fixed floor is fixed to your house, usually with a secret T-nail or a flooring adhesive.
